Homonyms – Weak | Week | Wick

In linguistics, homonyms are words which are homographs (words that share the same spelling, regardless of pronunciation), or homophones (equivocal words that share the same pronunciation, regardless of spelling), or both.

Here is one such set of words –

Weak = lacking the power to perform physically demanding tasks

Week = a period of seven days

Wick = a strip of porous material up which liquid fuel is drawn by capillary action to the flame as in a candle, lamp, or lighter

EXAMPLES

She was recovering from the flu and was very weak

His favourite day of the week was Sunday

As night fell, she lit the wick of the candle
